San Diego Rotary Institute Presents Answers to Frequently Asked Questions (last updated 3-6-99) What is the purpose of the Institute? Institutes provide an opportunity for past RI officers to continue active involvement in their favorite international humanitarian organization. Our San Diego Institute will be a productive and exciting beginning to the future as you share in Rotary fun and fellowship with past, present, and future Rotary leaders. Who are the participants? Zone 23 & 24 PDGs, DGs, DGNs, their spouses and guests. Are there 2 or 3 simultaneous or sequential programs? Yes. GETS for DGNs and the DG Roundtable for DGs preceed the Institute which includes PDGs in addition to current and incoming officers. For the convenience of web surfers, we are attempting to add information for PDGs, DGs, and DGNs as quickly as it becomes available to us. If not already in place, we plan to open a page for the DG class of 1999-2000 and a page for the DGN class of 2000-2001. To get those pages started, we will display a sample of Sam Greenes invitation letter to each class. It includes dates and fees. Are we encouraged or discouraged from bringing
spouses with us? Do spouses attend our sessions, or should they plan to be spending these days shopping and sighseeing? Spouses and other partners of GETS and Institute attendees are expected and encouraged to attend all sessions with their Rotary partners. In the past, a separate "Spouse's Program" has been in effect at many Institutes ranging from one to many special sessions. The sessions of thE San Diego Institute are being developed with the intent of being interesting, informative, exciting and fun for partners, as well as Rotarians. With this in mind, partners should feel free to attend as many sessions as they would like. However, partner attendance is not mandatory and many of the other activities to partners and family members during the Institute in San Diego, "America's Finest City" are listed on our web page in "While in San Diego." Will we receive some information regarding type of activities planned and expected dress required? We expect to have a preliminary schedule of events shortly and we will inform you of suggested dress as soon as that schedule is available. However, San Diego in September can often be very warm in the day, and only slightly cool in the evening. Normal casual business attire will be appropriate for GETS and the Institute sessions and meals. DGN presentation on Sunday evening traditionally is formal attire. When should I arrive?
