1999 – 2001 Sam Greene is a member of the Rotary Club of Westlake Village, California. Now Senior Active, his former classification was Micrographics Manufacturing. He owns and operates an International Consulting Firm located in Westlake Village.
In 1957 Sam joined the Rotary Club of New York City. He served on several committees of that club and on the committee for the Rotary International Convention held there in 1959.
When Sam moved to California in 1963 he became a member of the Rotary Club of Santa Monica, California and was a director of that club. When his company moved in 1979 he joined the Rotary Club of Westlake Village and was its president in 1983-84. He was District Governor of District 5240 in 1990-91. Along the way, he has served in virtually every responsible position at the club and district level. In addition, he was chairman of the Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee in 1996. Sam traveled to New Delhi, India in January of this year to be a delegate to the Council on Legislation.
Sam received Rotary’s highest recognition, the Service above Self award, and the Rotary Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service.
Of particular note, Sam has visited Rotary meetings in 36 countries and has addressed Rotary Clubs and Conferences in Argentina, Canada, Singapore, Bahrain and England.
Sam was born in Washington, Indiana, where his mother still lives. He has Bachelor’s and Masters degrees from Indiana University. While at Indiana, Sam met and married Caki Hill from Scottsburg, Indiana. They have three children and three grandchildren.
In September of 1997, Sam was nominated to be a member of the Board of Directors for Rotary International. His term will be 1999-2001. It was a special honor that he was formally elected in his home state of Indiana when Rotary International held its annual convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in June of last year.
